Release: Aero Enabler

Aero is normally not available on Windows Vista Home Basic and Windows 7 Home Basic. Furthermore there is an internal Hardware Check which only allows you to run Aero if passed.
This tool can enable Aero for you and additionally disable the Hardware Check if required!

You like Aero Enabler? Check out Tweak Me!, it can enable Aero and MUCH more!

  5. it doesn't work on my Win7 Home Basic
the enabler shows the disable option only.

  6. Two biggest problems with Win7 Starter is no Aero and no ability to change the desktop picture easily. The desktop picture problem is easily solved by installing Oceanis background changer for Win7 starter. Install the software, select your background folder, place a checkmark by one picture for a permanent background or select several backgrounds with time change intervals and off you go. Best thing out there right now. Link below:

Now if I could just find a good free software to simulate Aero I will be a happy camper. Hope the desktop background software solves at least one of your problems with the Win7 Starter.

  7. @ kmj92 & anonymous

If you graphics card does not meet the Aero requirements, even this tool won't let you enable Aero... It's just to enable Aero on systems running on supported hardware and an OS (Home Basic) which does not allow Aero at all

  8. It doesn't work on my machine: Win 7 Home Basic, .NET fw 3.5, nVidia 9600GT. :( Any help would be appreciated.

BTW, I had Win 7 Ultimate Beta running on this same machine before and I had Aero working.

Read the answer before ;) Your driver is probably not WDDM-compatible, so it won't be able to be used for Aero.

  15. Hmm... there seem to be some problems with that graphics card and Aero? I googled for "HD4570 Aero" and many people seem to have problems... you might want to check out "ATI Mobility Modder" if it supports your card to use the latest drivers?

    good luck ;)

  18. somebody who try to use this tool on windows 7.... can really say: it's work or not? Because nobody said that it work before...

  19. This tool modifies some registry settings (the only way to enable Aero on Home BASIC Editions). The Hardware Check is just a setting. It does not guarantee that Aero will work if your hardware and drivers do not meet the aero requirements!

  20. in fact i more than sure that my Hardware and drivers satisfate to aero requirements more then it's need, therefore it's so sad that it's don't work with my sistem ((

  21. Hi DiSTANTX,

I recently bought a new laptop with windows 7 home basic. I was bit disappointed that I couldn't have the glass effect on home basic until I stumbled across your aero enabler tool. However, I tried running it and it didn't seem to work. I still don't have glass effects on my machine. I have an nvidia geforce g102m video card on my machine. Is there a way to make it work? I'd appreciate your help on this.

  22. Hi Richard,

That is one of the most common misunderstandings. There is NO way to enable the Glass Effect on Home Basic Editions. This tool is just meant to enable Aero WITHOUT Glass Effect.
    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh...I was just thinking about that. I kept google-ing aero enabler and I came across some sites that posted it that it enabled glass effects. I thought I was missing something or that I was doing something wrong. I guess I'm resigned to not having the glass effect. Thanks for clearing that out. And just to make sure, Aero without the glass effect means it should enable aero snap, shake and peek am I correct?

  28. the real problem with starter edition is that it's made for low cost hardware; the lastest versions of ubuntu run even slower than seven, generally, on netbooks and most part of notebook; on the other hand i personally experiencied that full effected versions of both seven (i think something like home premium) and ubuntu oneiric run at maximum speed and with any kind of problem on a athlon 3500, radeon x1600 with ata 133 hd, date of birth 2006, and there is no comparison with my portable devices...so forget great graphic effects on your new netbook!
